From the Chair

As we enter another academic year, I am excited about the direction of UMMC Dermatology.  We continue to grow our clinical practice and research efforts.  We have had another successful year with continued 100% board passage and a new group of outstanding residents joining our program. We currently have our largest group of trainees ever, with 15 residents, 1 Moh’s fellow, and 1 Dermatopathology fellow. In April, we will open our practice in the new Colony Park North clinics, and I am excited about the opportunity for growth in our Mohs surgery, general dermatology, and cosmetics.

I am also so proud to celebrate the establishment of the Robert and Linda Brodell Endowed Chair of Dermatology.   This endowment, supported by Dr. Bob and Linda Brodell, Dr. Michael Cosulich, Dr. Anna Wile, and many others, will strengthen the department’s position for future growth, recruiting, and support. As we celebrate this accomplishment, we still look to grow this endowment to better support the efforts and goals of the Department of Dermatology.

I continue to be encouraged by all the work of our current faculty, residents, and alumni. When I look at the growth of dermatology throughout the entire state of Mississippi over the past decade, I couldn’t be prouder to be chair of UMMC Dermatology. There is so much more work to be done, but there is no doubt the mission is worth it!
